Eyes On The Wrong Prize

Looking at the BP spill, and government comments thereafter, it appears that Obama et al plans to revive carbon legislation again…while I firmly believe this is something we need to work through over time, I fear it isn’t possible in the existing political climate.  I remain amazed that there continues to be no solution to the acid rain/SO2 cap and trade system – how can we implement a carbon cap and trade when the SO2 cap and trade system that worked so well remains frozen due to CAIR?

Sen. Carper has new legislation currently ready to go into markup that resolves not only SO2, but also mercury and NOx.

Comparatively speaking, we know SO2 and mercury kills us and the environment, and it is relatively easy and cost-effective to rectify.  Carbon on the other hand isn’t as easily abated as other pollutants and could be more costly to limit than SO2 and NOx – leading to stronger opposition from climate deniers on the right.

Let’s work on carbon – but let’s fix the things we can now.
