A reminder to readers that, despite the fact that it’s all but being ignored by the US media and political establishment, the UN climate change conference in Cancun is ongoing and running through Dec. 10. In related news, it might not surprise you to learn that most of our elected officials don’t give a sh*t about the conference.
Expectations are low, and considering the way things transpired in Copenhagen last year, low is the only place they should be. Maybe I’m just having a bad week, but I’m increasingly depressed at just how broken all of our decision-making processes are – in both domestic and global terms – at a time when, more than ever, we need them to be functioning properly and effectively.
But hey, taxes are at historical lows and corporate profits are at an all time high, so something must be working right.
