Not exactly an exhaustive list of choices at the moment, but this page over at the Huffington Post asks readers to submit their 'Green Story of the Decade.' Some interesting and not-so-interesting choices here - I have a feeling that the Gulf oil spill will win handily just because it's so fresh in people's minds (and because the media flipped out about it more than the other stories).
My green story of the decade would probably be the failure of the US to pass significant climate change legislation even after a landslide election that brought in a Democratic President and a Democratic Congress. The lack of Congressional action, in turn, became the catalyst for the disappointments at Copenhagen last year and the complete disappearance of the Cancun conference from the front pages this year. More time wasted - time we don't have.
What would yours be?
